Counseling Philosophy

Compassion, Empathy, & Kindness Too often people avoid counseling because they
fear the stigma or that they may be judged or criticized. Therefore, I strive to provide the highest
standard of care for my clients. My
style of counseling is non-judgmental and compassion oriented. It is through this compassion in
combination with empathy, kindness, and understanding that healing and growth
can begin. At all times I strive to
make counseling sessions a safe environment for clients to explore their
feelings, behaviors, and thoughts.
When people feel safe to express their innermost turmoil, then healing
can begin. Who can benefit? It is my belief that anyone can benefit from
psychotherapy. I individually tailor
therapy to meet the needs of each client.
Nevertheless, there are some universal themes that I look for when
helping clients. Often, exploring
patterns of a person’s past history yields understanding. Likewise, I like exploring “systemic” interactions. This examines how the overall environment
with family, friends, work and society may be affecting the client. Many times, especially in families, others
“label” a person as sick when the truth is, that it is the system that is
having difficulties. What should I expect? When you come to my office, we will approach
issues through a collaborative partnership.
Working together, we will attempt to find the best solution. It’s my hope that our counseling sessions
will help bring resolution, insight and personal growth to you, finding new
and creative ways to a serene, productive, and authentic life. |
